Criptogel Product Line
The nails and periungual skin tissue constitute a morphofunctional unit. Under certain conditions (tight, non-breathable footwear) alterations of the nail (deformity, excessive curvature, thickening or fragility), bad habits (incorrect nail cutting) or irritation of the nail folds can lead to onychocryptosis (ingrowing toenail), often associated with the development of hypertrophic granulation tissue (periungual granuloma), which is painful, slow to heal, and easily recurs. In addition, dysmetabolic states (such as diabetes) and paraphysiological states (excessive perspiration) are often associated with altered periungual reactivity (chronic paronychia).
Most of these disorders predispose the sufferer to bacterial and/or fungal superinfections.
